Product Review: Etude House Lip Perfume Breath Mist

Yes, that's what it's called! "Lip perfume" breath mist. I guess you can spray it directly to your lips? I don't know if you're supposed to do that though. You can purchase this from Etude House for KRW 3 300 a piece which is about US$ 3. Not bad, eh? It comes in a simple rectangular packaging, just enough to enclose a mini spray bottle. It contains about 0.23oz of the product. It's very handy because of it's slim bottle and product just enough to last a month depending on your usage. This product is available in 3 different flavors: Peach, grapefruit and apple. I got the apple one.

It's actually green apple, well, obviously. It smells like green apple which I personally love. It smells so light and sweet. I'd love to have my breath smell like it!

It tastes faintly of green apple and the mint generally takes the stage in the mouth. It's also has a slight bitter aftertaste. It does give a fresh-breath feeling. My mouth did smell a little like green apple, which is good. The minty dance in my mouth lasted for about 15 minutes while the freshness feeling made it to 30 minutes (just enough for a quick chat to cover up that garlicky, oniony, pungent goodness you've indulged in! Ha!). Maybe it would differ with the number of spritz? Maybe! I had about 2 spritz.

This product is completely ALCOHOL FREE! It won't dry your mouth. Yay! It also contains Cetylpyridinium chloride and Xylitol. Cetylpyridinium chloride is an antiseptic found in mouthwashes, lozenges and many other products. It kills bacteria which is one cause of bad breath. It also reduces the risk of gingivitis and prevents plaque build up on teeth. All hail to this compound I can barely spell! On the downside, it can cause discoloration in between teeth but can easily be removed by the dentist. Xylitol is a know sweetener which aside from being sweet, can actually prevent tooth decay and dry mouth.

Overall, I really like this product. It's a really good alternative to gum and candy which contains sugar. It is very slim and can easily be carried around. It comes very handy in times of emergency. Now I am confident that fresh breath is just a spritz away!

Here’s a run-down of the things that I like and I don’t like about this product.

Positive:
♥  Fruity Scent
♥  Minty
♥  Refreshes mouth
♥  Small and handy
♥  Does not contain alcohol
♥  Does not contain sugar

Negative:
■ Bitter aftertaste (I know that it's not supposed to be all sweet and yummy like candy but I think it can taste a little better.)

Product Review: Ice-cream Type Magic Cream Soap

I have a new make-up remover given to me as a gift. The product's name really intrigued me. It's called Ice-cream Type Magic Cream Soap! What?!? Ice cream? Soap? Magic??? I don't know but it sounds really interesting. Who haven't dreamt of lathering their face with ice cream? No? Maybe it's just me.

I'm really critical when it comes to removing makeup on my face. I have a sensitive and acne prone skin that is why I always make sure that I completely remove cosmetic products on my face before retiring to bed. I have been using cold creams for make-up removal since I first started applying cosmetics and it has been serving me good so I never tried any other makeup removal products, until today.

Ice-cream Type Magic Cream Soap

Presenting, Outi1: QuickTime 1 minute Solution, Ice-cream Type Magic Cream Soap. The one I have is grape scented. This product is made in Korea but it was bought from Japan.

I love how the box looks.

Outi1 QuickTime 1 minute Solution

It comes with instructions written in Korean, Japanese, and English languages.

Ice cream for face

The usage guide states the instructions on how to use the product for deep cleansing, fast deep cleansing and as a bath agent.

Ice Cream Soap
The product container is a cup and it comes with a spoon. This really makes the product resemble an ice cream!

Korean Ice Cream Soap

After removing the seal I was even more amazed by how wonderful the product looks. Not to mention the smell! It smells lovely; mild grape flavor. I almost wanted to eat it! The texture is pretty much like ice cream too.

Grape Ice Cream Soap

I opted for a deep cleansing. It required 1 spoon of the ice cream soap which you will lather on wet face just like a regular facial wash.

I massaged my face with the product for 30 seconds (I left my eye makeup for the work of another product), added a few drops of lukewarm water to my hands and continued to massage for another 30 seconds, as directed. I rinsed it with lukewarm water and finished off with cold water.

I really like the packaging of the product. It's very cute. I really love how Asian products step out of the box. The product itself can be used throughout the body. This product may not only be used as a facial soap but as a body soap as well. It's very versatile. I usually prefer unscented products but I love how the soap smells. Mild grape and ice cream! I swear I can smell ice cream as I was lathering. I've never had grape ice cream before. I haven't even seen one to start with. I'm not sure if grape flavored ice cream exists but if it does, I hope it smells as good as this soap.

The product feels like a regular facial wash and I did not have any irritation during the first 30 seconds. The other 30 seconds was another thing though. I felt a slight stinging sensation but it wasn't that bad so I finished until the last second. Rinsing with warm water washed the soap along with the stinginess. The cold water was even more soothing. My face felt really good and squeaky clean. After patting my face dry I felt a bit of tightness on my face. It left my skin a bit too dry for my taste.

I tested how good it took of my makeup by using a cotton ball with toner. I was amazed by how clean the cotton ball was after the test. It's not the clean clean as if it was never used but clean as in no trace of makeup. I applied moisturizer after everything to counter the dryness.

Here’s a run-down of the things that I like and I don’t like about this product.

Positive:
♥  Mild grape ice cream scent
♥  Versatile
♥  Effectively removes makeup

Negative:
■ Scented (Yes, I love how the product smells but I really try to avoid scented products)
■ Slight stinging sensation after the first 30 seconds
■ Made my face a bit dry

I would still recommend this product because of I find that it's really effective in removing makeup. The product claims to be a makeup remover and it does what it promises. The slight stinging sensation I felt while using the product was a bit uncomfortable but bearable. Each person's skin is different and reaction to products will vary from person to person. The product made my face a bit dry for my taste because I am used to cold creams which have moisturizing properties. I would recommend the use of moisurizer after wash.

Would I use this product again?
Sure! I would like to try the other approaches in using it.

Product Review: Hanskin Glossy Magic BB Cream

BB cream or blemish balm cream is a hailed beauty product. It was formulated by a German dermatologist, Dr. Christine Schrammek and became extremely famous in Japan and Korea. It has become my favorite cosmetic product because it is an all-in-one make-up package. In this post I will be reviewing a BB cream by a famous Korean brand, Hanskin.

My view of this product is based on my skin type which is both sensitive and oily with a few blemishes.

Hanskin Glossy Magic BB Cream

Available in 35mL (upper picture) and 43.5mL (lower picture)
It's just weird that the front print of 35mL bottle says whitening and wrinkle
while the 43.5 only says whitening.

Hanskin Glossy Magic BB Cream Ingredients

I have made a little research on the benefits of the major ingredients in Hanskin's Glossy Magic BB Cream. First off, chamomile. Studies have shown that chamomile has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-allergenic and sedative properties. This can really help in reducing the redness of pimples as well as prevent new breakouts caused by bacteria. Aloe Vera is used in cases of burns and eczema because of its moisturizing properties. Good for keeping the skin hydrated! Purslane can nourish skin because it is rich in minerals, vitamin C and omega-3 fatty acids and soybean extract have anti oxidant as well as skin lightening properties.

How to apply BB cream

This BB cream claims to whiten skin and prevent wrinkles. My little research on the components of the cream makes me believe it so. That’s some good start off points.

BB cream

What I bought is a 35mL bottle. The packaging is simple; white plastic tube and pastel pink-colored cover.

BB cream

The cream is bit runny but this is not a downside. It actually makes the cream easier to apply and blend. It has a light scent which is what I like about it. I don't like heavily scented cosmetics. The cream evens out the skin tone and finishes off with a glowing shimmer. I love how dewy and shimmery the face looks after applying the cream. Though this does not a good thing for my skin type, I still think that this is a positive point. I find that it also makes the skin feeling smooth after application. My skin is really sensitive and is prone to breakouts but this product did not cause me any pimples.

BB Cream

On the other hand, this BB cream does not have SPF which is rather important in preventing premature skin aging due to UV rays. It also has a light coverage which made me need another layer of concealer to hide my imperfections. It is only available in one shade so it won’t be suitable for other skin tones. I guess I’m lucky enough that the color shade of the cream matches my face. The dewy and shimmering finish does not really compliment a hot or humid weather. If you have the same skin type as mine, the dewy finish is a no no but you can always apply a light dab of powder. That's what I do anyway.

Here’s a run-down of the things that I like and I don’t like about this product.

Positive:
♥  Skin whitening
♥  Anti-wrinkle
♥  Easy to blend
♥  Light scent
♥  Makes skin dewy and looking hydrated
♥  Frost finish
♥  Did not cause me pimples

Negative:
■ No SPF
■ Light coverage
■ Only 1 shade available - not suitable for all skin tones
■ Does not compliment oily skin
■ Not suitable for hot and humid weathers

I highly recommend this product preferably to those with normal to dry skin. I find the hydration superb and the dewy look would definitely suit these skin types. I would still recommend this product to those with a combination skin type like mine (oily and sensitive). It did not cause me any breakouts and I just finish my face off with powder to tone down the dewiness. Though it has some negative points, I think that the positive still outweighs it.
