Never Grow Up

Kawaii Fashion

In this look I'm wearing a black and white polka dotted chiffon dress, DIY distressed black tights, wheel shoes and a bear string bag. I added a white head accessory and a fancy pearl necklace.

You might notice that I wear a lot of black and white coordinates but believe me, I don't usually purposely do this. It just so happen that whenever I try to mix in match my clothes, the black always pairs up with the white. Does anyone else encounter this problem? (๑¯д¯๑)

Kawaii Punk

kawaii punk

In this look I'm wearing a black sleeveless top from Volcom and a high-waist denim cutoff shorts from Wrangler. This look is a bit dark and punk, tough but still chic. To make the look a bit rough, I wore a black DIY distressed stockings. For my footwear, I used my white boots from VANCL. I was actually torn between my white boots and my classic 1460 brown docs which you can see beside me in the picture above. In the end I decided to use the white boots to contrast all the black in my outfit.

I tied my hair in a messy bun and wore my rectangular black framed glasses. I added a metal heart long necklace and some bangles to finish the look.

Kawaii in Pink

kawaii fashion

So here's my take on kawaii. It's a little toned down but as you can imagine, walking in this all pink outfit outside any major Japanese neighborhood can cause quite a stir.

In this look I am wearing a Christie Brooks Kid's Dress. This is a relatively old hand-me-down dress from my sister. I was really small when I was younger and I never had the chance to use it. After so many years of being stuck in my closet (yes, I still have and still use a couple of my childhood clothes!), I finally got to wear it and believe it or not, it's still huge for me! I had to pin it at the back for a good fit. Maybe I didn't really grow that much. (´∩`。) I'm planning to have it tailored for repair. My mom said that this dress also had a big ribbon in front but she removed it because she thought it was outrageous. I guess I'll have to make a new one then.

kawaii accessories

How does that pink lollipop look? Kawaii ne?

It's actually a pen!

To make the look really kawaii, I used a pink scrunchies to tie my hair in a half side ponytail, used assorted ribbon clips, and wore my panda earmuffs. I also used different pink accessories that matches the whole look. I used my pink Hello Kitty envelope bag and for my footwear, I wore a pink wedge with bow and layered 2 frilly socks.

Out of the Bedroom and onto the Street - The Japanese Pajama Trend

Pajama trend

Have you ever went out of the house with your PJs on? I mean, not just going out in convenience store near your house to grab something to snack on in the middle of the night but wearing them just like any of your outdoor clothes. If you have, seems like your style is a current hit in Japan!

Many Harajuku girls were spotted wearing pajama pants during spring and it continued until summer. Why you may ask? I don't know either. Who would question Japanese fashion trend anyway? Anything goes.

The pajama trend isn't relatively new, it has been reappearing since 2011. Many Hollywood celebrities were even spotted sporting the look.

But there is a huge difference in the Japanese take of this trend.

So cute! They look like fun people to be friends with.

I think all the photos sum up everything that I have to say. The pajama trend in Japan pretty much uses pajama pants with fun and colorful prints. They commonly pair it with sneakers. I'm not quite sure with my feelings about this trend but I think it's a really fun and quirky. Looks very comfy too! It seems like a very good outfit choice when you're running late for school. Some might think that you totally forgot to change your bottom wear though.

What do you think about this trend? Yay or nay? Would you try this trend yourself?

Plain and Simple into Something Kawaii

casual kawaii fashion

Lately, I have become really fond of wearing long sleeve tops and plain skater skirt. Individually they look plain and simple but I think the combination can actually give off a modest and kawaii vibe.

In this look I used a laced long sleeves top and a black skater skirt. I added a black ribbon as a bow tie to compliment the skirt.

Black and White Creepers

Black and white creepers paired with bunchies socks for my footwear because creepers and socks goes hand in hand. I finished the look with some accessories and usamimi headband. I think the lace really uplifted the whole look to make it more kawaii.

simple kawaii fashion

This is a very quick-to-come-up-with look that I use whenever I don't have enough time to think of what to wear. I just mix and match different long sleeve tops and skirts.

Yes, simple long sleeves and skirts can go a long way!

Ulzzang Glasses

I have been very fond of non-prescription glasses. I love how it can make you look nerdy, quirky or simply kawaii. My favorite would be my plain black rectangular glasses.

Ulzzang Glasses

I think it compliments my dumpling face by giving it more definition and sharpness. Hooray!

Ulzzang Glasses

But last Monday I started wearing glasses for good. Boo!

Last month, I went to an ophthalmologist to have my eyes checked because my right eye had been feeling dry for days (even with frequent application of moisturizing eye drops) and it felt like there was something in it. After being checked, the doctor said that it was just an allergic reaction so I was given medication. But aside from that, she also said that I have astigmatism.

Kawaii Glasses

The letters on the left is the normal vision while the blurry letters on the right is how people with astigmatism sees. Looks pretty bad eh?

Yesterday I went back to the ophthalmologist to have my very first prescription glasses. I was planning to get a frame similar to may favorite rectangular ones but the doctor made me try a frame she thought suited me.

Ulzzang Glasses

Very Ulzzang! I loved it so I chose it without second thoughts.

I think the large frames made my face look smaller. Being black also makes it easier to match with different outfits. I love my new specs but I don't think I'm too thrilled having to wear it for good and not just for fashion.

Kawaii Biscuit: Hello Panda

Hello Panda is a biscuit manufactured by a Japanese confectionery, Meiji. These cute panda biscuits are such a kawaii treat! It comes 3 different fillings: choco cream, milk cream and strawberry cream.

hello panda

My favorite flavor would be the strawberry cream. I love anything strawberry! I love biscuits and I love pandas! This product definitely hits the sweet spot.

hello panda strawberry

The biscuits are not only flavored cream filled but as the box says, it is fun filled. The biscuits can either be round or panda-head shaped with cute panda printing doing different activities. It's quiet entertaining checking out what the pandas are up to before you munch them.

kawaii biscuit

The printing are not that defined. Often times you'd see holes poked on the biscuits which are coincidentally located on the pandas making them look less cute but definitely not less tasty. The biscuit is crumbly and bursting with a creamy strawberry flavor which is not too sweet or overpowering. These biscuits are so kawaii and oh so yummy!

Hello Panda

L Lawliet approves!  d=(´▽`)=b But no, this product does not contain any panda chunks. (*≧▽≦)ノシ))

Kawaii on a Budget

I’m a very frugal person and I want to share where I buy and how I manage my kawaii, decora and ulzzang fashion enthusiasm without breaking the bank.

1. DIY

Kawaii on a Budget

Are there times when you really want to have something and it’s either not available or too pricy? What is better than to make your own? You can even revamp your old clothes. Just let the creativity flow and have fun!

2. Kids’ Department

cheap kawaii items

If you don’t know it yet, the kids’ department has a lot of cute items! Well of course, they are for kids after all. You can buy clothes a fraction of the price for adult ones. I wear kids’ clothes and accessories because why not? Some were mine when I was younger (and still fit) while some others I have bought brand new.

3. Thrift Shops

Kawaii on a Budget

These places store marvelous items which are mostly hidden to the eyes. Some of you may be cringing like now. I admit that at first I was really skeptical in buying resale goods but after a few visits in a local shop, my eyes were opened into the kind of gems they have, for a very cheap price as well! You just have to be patient in looking for good stuffs in a mass of considerable junk. You can also opt to go to thrift stores with sifted items to save time and effort. Prices may be a bit higher but still good. Just remember to clean and disinfect the items you buy before using them.

4. Street Markets

Kawaii on a Budget

They are places for wonderful bargains! You can haggle and buy items half their price or even buy two items for the price of one. What is not to like about them?

5. Online Shopping

Kawaii on a Budget

Most of the times items online come a bit pricy because of shipping taxes you have to pay but some of them can really be cheap not to mention, unique! You just have to be very vigilant in online shopping as it posts hazards of theft and scam.

6. Sale Promotion

Kawaii on a Budget

This is the best time to get your favorite brands a tad cheaper. You just have to endure rubbing shoulders against strangers and long queues.

Thank you for reading. Stay Kawaii!

Denim Haze

I found an old jacket in my moms closet and I had this light-bulb moment to make it look kawaii. I'm not really fond of denims because I find them stiff and warm to wear but I really like this look that I came up with. An old denim over my blue layered dress doesn't look bad, no?

ombre denim jacket

The jacket had sleeves before the whole make-over I did to it. It was just a plain short sleeve denim jacket with a plain blue denim color. I cut the sleeves to make it into a vest, added some glorious spikes to the collar and ombre-fied it.

Denim vest

I accentuated the look with some punky bracelets and a heart locket.

tattoo tights

I used my starry tattoo tights to compliment the "punkiness"of the entire look and over it I wore a light brown bunchies socks. Converse for my footwear ★

Converse

I added a violin prop because I thought it fitted the puzzle and after seeing the final photo I had to say that the whole look seemed to be inspired by Lindsay Sterling!

Or the violin makes it look so.

Me with purple hair

Unfortunately not everyone can get this done because of school policies or the fear of permanently damaging the hair. But in every problem, there is always a solution. And in this problem, the solution is:

HAIR PASTELS
 also known as hair chalk.

I've found this item on ebay. They can come in a set of 12, 24, 32 and 48 colors. WOW! That's a lot of colors right? The possibilities are endless!

I got the 24 color set and as you can see, that's a lot of color choice!

I would like to make a separate post on a tutorial and a review about this product so that's all for now. Thank you for reading.

Kawaii Socks

I love wearing socks! It keeps my feet warm during cold weather and prevents callous formation which can be caused by some shoes. Plus, it's a very good fashion item!

Here are some of my favorite kawaii socks.

Kaero-san socks

Real frogs scare me but these frog character socks are bursting with adorableness!
